SHANGHAI - A residential building in Shanghai has been seriously damaged, reportedly by an explosion, trapping some residents inside, fire fighting sources said. 

The accident occurred at around 9 p.m. Wednesday in Yangpu District. Some residents said they heard a loud bang. 

 

Rescue work is underway. Casualties remain unclear.
